Are you looking for ways to put your faith into concrete actions that address the systemic injustice and violence that plagues so many of our neighbors in the Columbus area? Would you enjoy working hand in hand with Catholics from other parishes as well as people from a variety of other faith traditions to make the Columbus area more like the community of justice that God wants it to be? Then our parish Justice Ministry needs you!
The Justice Ministry at St. Thomas works to identify and solve serious community problems in the Columbus area by joining forces with the more than 35 other faith communities that make up the Organization for Building Responsibility, Equality and Dignity (BREAD). Members of the justice ministries at the various faith communities conduct research and identify best practices that have proven successful in other cities to address the identified problems. Then, through the combined “people power” of our many congregations, we are able to effectively influence elected officials and other local leaders to act decisively to solve the problems by implementing those best practices locally.
